The Silent Collapse of Somalia
Somalia has endured over 30 years of conflict, collapse, and chronic misgovernance. But the most dangerous crisis facing the country today isn’t just the visible destruction — it’s the leadership built on lies, deceiving the public, and reacting with hostility whenever confronted with the truth. Somali politics is dominated by two types of politicians who have yet to face the painful reality they embody:1. The Corrupt Politician Who Bought His Seat, Yet Pretends to Be Clean, Some Somali MPs have bought their way into parliament, spending as much as $500,000 — selling their farms, properties, and even their family wealth to secure a seat. Once in office, they rebrand themselves as “national heroes,” constantly accusing others of corruption in the media. But the Somali people must understand this: someone who secured power through bribery can never be a clean-handed anti-corruption champion. That’s like a thief breaking into your house and claiming to be your security guard. We must say it plainly: “Corruption is your profession — stop deceiving the people.”There’s a crucial difference between those who enter politics with integrity and those who come in through deception and looted wealth.2. The Foreign Agent in Disguise — A Mercenary in a Suit , Then there are others who frequently appear on TV talking about good governance, patriotism, and national struggle — but in reality, they’re spies working for foreign governments. They receive regular bribes or one-time massive payouts during elections. These are individuals who have sold their dignity, their nation, and their people. The worst among them speak to the public daily while secretly leaking information to foreign powers at night. The Somali people must be taught the difference between a true patriot and a foreign-sponsored traitor. As the saying goes:“A spy is like polluted water — once it mixes with the people, it contaminates everything.”A shameless spy who believes they won’t be discovered is a constant national threat. No spy can lead a country, and they must never be trusted with the fate of a nation.ConclusionSomalia needs honest, principled, and ethical leadership. That can’t be achieved unless citizens commit to truth and accountability. “A nation that doesn’t face its truth can never find upright leadership. A people who don’t shame spies and corrupt leaders will never progress.”If we truly want a better future for Somalia, we must remove such individuals from power and replace them with genuine leaders those who don’t buy seats or sell their loyalty. It’s time we say: (This is not a hero — this is a national threat.)
