Zimbabwe to ban Lithium export.

Zimbabwe is considering to Ban Lithium Concentrate Exports Starting in 2027 to Boost Local Processing

The country now has its own processing capacity, Mines Minister Winston Chitando said.

He noted that lithium sulphate production plants are being developed at two mines in Zimbabwe. The compound can be refined into battery-grade materials.

The government’s move follows a 2022 ban on raw ore exports.

Zimbabwe initially required miners to submit local refining plans by March 2024, but extended the deadline due to falling lithium prices.
