Museveni: “Israel has no place in middle east “
Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has shared his views on the war in the Middle East in a rambling post on X.
In a statement peppered with biblical citations, Museveni’s started by saying Uganda has good relations with Israel, Iran and the US.
He then criticizes “mistake-makers” Iran, Israel and “Western imperialists led by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).” He singles out Iran for saying that Israel has no place in the Middle East, and Israel for refusing to implement a two-state solution.
He also calls out the US for allegedly overthrowing a democratically elected leader in Iran in 1953 to steal the country’s oil.
The post on X comes hours after Uganda’s ruling party confirmed that Museveni one of Africa’s longest-serving leaders is preparing to seek reelection next year.
African leaders have remained largely silent on ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
